One of the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society’s most treasured paintings by Clarence Stratton is that of Nanticoke Springs. On Monday, September 15, 2025 Historian Dick Baldwin shared the results of his research on Nanticoke Springs and, in particular, the story behind Mr. Stratton’s painting of the springs property. Yancey Moore presents his memories of the Bowers Family based in Maine, NY. Yancey also presents samples of artwork by Franck Taylor Bowers. Born in Binghamton, New York, Franck Bowers spent most of his career as an illustrator but the last years of his life, he devoted much time to oil painting and watercolors. His subjects included landscapes, especially trees, figures, genre, still lifes and bo tanical drawings. He usually signed his paintings F. Taylor. He was a founder and strong promoter of the Binghamton Society of Artists and a teacher at The Binghamton Art School. Early in his career participated in the Binghamton Sketch Club.
